Pendulums come in all shapes and sizes. They are quite simply tools that help us detect our energetic field. They are tuned to subtle vibrations and a good chakra pendulum can help us clear, balance and heal our bodies.
A pendulum is a weight hanging from a fixed point. When pulled and released, the forces of gravity and inertia create movement. However, when no force is inflicted on the weight, something begins to happen naturally; energy moves the weight with a little help from the unconscious mind. Pendulums feel magical, for even when held completely still, they begin to move in detection of the invisible energy around us.
The chakra system is the field of gentle subtle energy that animates our physical bodies. When these are out of alignment, we can be pulled in several directions and feel off centre from our most natural state of well being.
Choosing Your Pendulum
Choosing a pendulum is a very personal task and I prefer having hands on access. The pendulum for chakra balancing is a tool of diagnosis to help us better maintain our energy, spirit and physical body.
Allow yourself the chance to be drawn to one. Is there one that catches your eye or calls your attention? Don’t touch at first, just observe. Look at the shapes and colours. Some are made of wood, metal or crystals. My first pendulum was made of brass. It’s very simple but I still use it for quick answers when I’m indecisive. I find crystals work beautifully too, but the choice is solely yours and yours alone. Which one are you drawn to? When you do choose one, hold it it to feel its energy. What is the message coming from the pendulum before you do anything at all?
Hold the string between your thumb and forefinger. Extend your arm so the pendulum resides at the level of your heart for this first encounter, then get familiar with your pendulum, as it can be a tool that gives you lots of pleasure but can also be very useful.
Setting Up Your Pendulum
Your intention is everything, so before you start the process, say “ show me yes” then wait to see whether the pendulum flows forward and backwards, side to side, in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction, and thanks a mental note, and then say “show me no” and again wait to see what direction the pendulum moves.
When placed over the 7 primary chakra centres in the body, the pendulum will move, showing us both the direction and size of the energy the chakra is emitting. You may then ask “is this chakra balanced?” or even just state “this chakra is balanced” and observe what direction the pendulum moves in. The energy level will reveal balance, imbalance, or energy blocks.
Chakra Balancing with the Pendulum
As a Reiki practitioner I find it easier to just use Reiki to balance chakras, because let’s face it, we always have our hands with us, but sometimes I will add the pendulum of use it to check whether the chakras are balanced before and after I’ve done the balance itself.
1. Using the pendulum to balance chakras is easy! Hold the string or chain between your fingers, then set it us as above, to find out whether each chakras is balanced or not.
2. Hold the pendulum over the root chakra or even the crown if you prefer (be guided by your intuition as to where to start).
3. Ask “is this chakra balanced?” and then move through to the next chakra and the next, till you’ve checked all 7 chakras.
4. Hold the pendulum over the first unbalanced chakra, and watch what it does. Generally it will spin either clockwise or anti-clockwise. It may be subtle or a huge circle. Observe.
5. Ask the pendulum “please balance this chakra” and watch what happens.
6. Generally the pendulum will begin to spin more and more, then it will slow down and eventually stop once the chakra is back into balance.
7. Move on to the next chakra that was out of balance, and repeat the process. Keep moving till all of the previously unbalanced chakras have been cleared and balanced.
7. Retest all if the chakras going through them and asking “is this chakra balanced?” for all of the 7 energy centres, and they should all come up with a YES. If not, rebalance any that may need extra work.
There are lots of ways to balance your chakras, which we teach in my Reiki Workshops. They include using Reiki, crystals and even essential oils (which all have their own vibrational frequencies), but this method is always a lot if fun, particularly when you are just new to pendulums and energy work.
Hope you enjoy trying this method as we all need a variety of tools to help us stay grounded and balanced and gain answers to the unknown!
Much Love,
Carol xo
